  • What is the difference between diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging?

Diversity is offering variety in numbers and the representation of difference. It’s acknowledging the ways by which people differ in thought, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, and ability.

Equity is holding space for the variety of people represented to have fair access to and the opportunity to attain valued resources.

Inclusion is the way by which individuals in those diverse and equitable groups are respected, supported, and valued for their presence within the team, group, or organization.

Belonging is the feeling members of the group attain when the diverse group is collectively included and treated with equity consistently.

  • I'm not biased...am I?

Our responsibility as inclusive leaders is to become aware of how our bias impacts decision-making and implement strategies to reduce the harmful impact of bias within policies and processes.
